4/20/2012 – One hell of a weekend
Friday night we hosted one of the biggest parties in the area at Blue Moose Tap House in Iowa City.
Having the pleasure of playing with a few of our favorite Iowa City bands, it was a rockin’ time.
Here’s who played:
Zeta June
Thunderfoot
The Limbs
and KAGE
Zeta June started out with a phenomenal set. Playing mostly originals (of which 168 is my favorite), they really set the tone for the whole evening and raised the bar high for the other bands. The crowd really got moving and singing along to the spot on cover of ‘Comfortably Numb’ by Pink Floyd.
Thundefoot came on next. The trio belted out one rager after another, playing mostly originals with a few covers (Wearing Purple by Go Go Bordello, and some of 5 in a hands biggest hits). Still fresh band, they’ve really been turning heads around the Eastern Iowa area.
Next up were the Limbs. These guys really brought it with a whole repertoire of funky rap rock songs that had people dancing and singing the whole time. Ty James rocked the mic flawlessly interacting with the crowd as if they were both in conversation.
After Item 9 played KAGE hit the stage. Although the crowd was pretty tired no one showed it as KAGE got everybody moving and dancing to some EDM. He definitely knows how to work a crowd by mixing a wide range of songs, beats, and samples. Not many artists compare.
And that was just 4/20.
The next day we got up around 8am and met up with Zeta June. From there we drove 6 hours to play a the Soundz of The Forest Rock festival. Twas a long drive but an awesome party. Item 9 played around 8 then Zeta June came on after. The people from Southern Illinois didn’t know what hit them.
After showing them how to party Iowa City style members and friends of the bands passed out in random places across the forest.
